Nepal’s COVID-19 tally jumps to 35,529 with 1,111 fresh cases

KATHMANDU: A total of 1,111 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the country in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day spike.

Of them, 777 are men and 327 women. This takes the total tally in the country to 35,529.

In Kathmandu valley, 377 people tested positive to the coronavirus, said Ministry of Health and Population Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam at the regular press meet on Thursday.

According to Dr. Gautam, the infection has been confirmed in one person from Khotang, 20 people from Morang, four people from Sankhuwasabha and 38 people from Sunsari in Province 1.

Similarly, 49 people from Dhanusha, 85 people from Parsa, 30 people from Bara, seven people from Mahottari, 15 people from Rautahat, 22 people from Saptari, six people from Sarlahi and 7 people from Siraha in Province 2 have been confirmed to have the coronavirus.

Similarly, 270 people from Kathmandu, 13 from Kavre, 13 from Kavre, 45 from Chitwan, two from Dolakha, one from Dhading, seven from Nuwakot, 41 from Bhaktapur, 63 from Makwanpur, six from Ramechhap and 66 from Lalitpur, three from Sindhupalchowk and five from Sindhuli in Bagmati Province have been diagnosed coronavirus positive.

Likewise, coronavirus infection has been confirmed in two people in Kaski, one in Gorkha, 11 in Tanahun, 17 in Nawalparasi East, one in Parbat, three in Lamjung and eight in Baglung in Gandaki Province.

A total of 21 people from Kapilvastu, three from Gulmi, two from Dang, 18 from Nawalparasi, four from Pyuthan, one from Bardiya, 75 from Banke and 72 from Rupandehi in Province 5 have been found positive.

Similarly, the coronavirus has been confirmed in 5 people of Jajarkot, 12 of Dailekh and nine of Surkhet in Karnali Province.

A total of six people from Kanchanpur, 20 from Kailali, six from Doti, one from Bajhang and 17 from Baitadi in Sudurpaschim Province have tested coronavirus positive.

The new cases were confirmed in the 12,629 samples tested in the past 24 hours in different laboratories across the country.

Likewise, 569 people returned home after recovering from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,073.

Of the total 15,273 active cases in the country, 9,063 are in institutional isolation centers while 6,910 are in home isolation.

Meanwhile, eight people died of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 183.
