Lidi landslide: 30 bodies retrieved, nine still missing



SINDHUPALCHOWK:  Thirty bodies among those 39 people missing in the Lidi landslide have been recovered as of Thursday.

According to DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of Sindhupalchowk district, the bodies of four-year-old Sonam Dong, Bibirani Dong, 42, Sanu Kanchha, 5, Lalita Dong, 18, Hira Dong Jhankri, 44, Sanlamu Pakhrin Dong, , 24,  were retrieved yesterday.

Twenty-four bodies had been recovered as of Wednesday. Nine bodies are still missing.

As many as 39 people had gone missing in the landslide that struck Lidi village in Jugal rural municipality on August 14.

A team from Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has been searching the missing people.
