Nepali youth who found Gautam Buddha’s idol held by Indian SSB



JANAKPURDHAM: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have arrested a Nepali youth who found Gautam Buddha’s statue on Nepali side near the Nepal-India border at Bathnaha, Mahottari on Wednesday.

According to the locals of Manarasisaba-9, Bathnaha, Balindra Sada of Manarasisba Municipality-9, Bathnaha had found Buddha’s statue in a pitch on the Nepali side of border on Wednesday while fishing and had taken the statue home.

After the rumors about the statue spread in the locality, Indian Border Security Force entered Nepal and arrested Sada from his home blaming him of theft.

According to SP Suresh Sapkota of Armed Police Force Mahottari, the local administration and APF have initiated dialogue for his release.

SP Sapkota informed that the Indian security force has promised to release him after inquiry and added that Nepali side would take further action for his security when required.

While inquired if Sada was arrested from his home, he replied that he also heard the same and they are investigating about the issue.

The statue is at Sada’s home and members of Border Out Post of APF have been guarding the statue, and the locals have threatened to initiate mass protest provided the Sada is not released unconditionally.
