State-2 government to challenge health facilities in the court

KATHMANDU: The State-2 government has stepped up its preparation to go to the court against medical colleges and private health facilities for their non-cooperation in the control and prevention of coronavirus pandemic.

A meeting of the Province Crisis Management Center (PCMC) held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers on Tuesday decided to reach the court to challenge the state-based medical colleges along with other private health facilities’ non-cooperation in the efforts to contain coronavirus infection.

The meeting decided to form a coordination committee under the premiership of Minister for Social Development and entrust this committee with the responsibility for holding discussion with the medical colleges and private health facilities on the issue of corona management in the first phase.

Also the meeting took the decision to use the medical colleges and private health facilities for coronavirus treatment as per the federal government designated rates.

If the health facilities continue to show uncooperative gesture in providing treatment to the infected people following this move, the State government would write the federal government for the action as well as termination of registration and also take ahead legal process against it.

Further, the State government has directed the authorities concerned to immediately enforce the decisions made earlier in connection with the prevention and control of the virus.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut said the State government was compelled to take bold decisions to save people’s lives in the very critical time of pandemic and also urged all sides to lend support in the fight against the virus.

The meeting has directed the Ministry of Social Development to fulfil the lack of human resource in containing the spread of the virus and also decided to honor the doctors, health workers and security personnel performing the best in the campaign against coronavirus.
