113 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in ICU, six on ventilator support



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that 113 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and six have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry of Health, one person is undergoing treatment in ICU in Province-1, 41 in Province -2, 59 in Bagmati Province, one in Gandaki Province and 11 in Province -5.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Jageshwor Gautam also said that there are six coronavirus patients, all from Bagmati Province, are on the ventilator.

The ministry said that the number of infected people undergoing treatment in the ICU has been increasing with the addition of symptomatic cases.

A total of 942 ICUs and 496 ventilators have been allocated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients across the country.

There are 630 ICUs and 361 ventilators in Bagmati Province.

Similarly, Gandaki Province has 137 ICUs and 59 ventilators, Province 2 has 45 ICUs and 17 ventilators, Province 1 has 43 ICUs and 19 ventilators, Karnali Province has 40 ICUs and 17 ventilators, Province 5 has 29 ICUs and 13 ventilators and Sudurpaschim Province has 18 ICUs and 10 ventilators, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, Nepal confirmed 581 fresh cases in the last 24 hours that took the national tally to 27,247.
