Valley restricts gatherings, assemblies, rallies as COVID-19 cases increase

KATHMANDU: District Administration Office, Kathmandu has banned gatherings, mass meetings and rallies in the Kathmandu Valley after the number of coronavirus cases surged of late.

Issuing a notice on Friday, DAO, Kathmandu said this order will remain effective from August 15 to August 31.

Meanwhile, the administration warned that it would take stringent action against those violates the order in line with the law.

As many as 119 more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley in in a single day.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Friday afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that 83 cases have been confirmed in Kathmandu, 30 in Lalitpur and six in Bhaktapur.
