Mt Everest is being measured after 64 years

KATHMANDU: A government team is leaving for Solukhumbu district to measure the height of Mt. Everest on Wednesday, said Gorkhapatra daily.

The height of the world’s highest peak is measured after 64 years. “A four-member survey team led by Khimlal Gautam, chief officer of Survey Department under the Ministry of Land Reform and Management, is heading for Mt. Everest to measure its height, said Sushil Dangol, coordinator of Mt. Everest height measurement program.

Of the four team members, Khimlal Gautam and Rabin Karki will reach the top of Everest.

Gautam had scaled Mt Everest in 2011,  representing a civil servants. Those who reach atop Everest will carry GNSS machine. It will help them to collect the height details.
