Patan High Court stays Sushil Bhatta’s appointment as IBN CEO



KATHMANDU: The Patan High Court on Tuesday stayed the appointment of Sushil Bhatta as the Chief Executive Officer of Investment Board Nepal (IBN).

Hearing a writ petition filed by advocate Jaya Bahadur Bhujel, a single bench of Chief Justice Nahakul Subedi issued an interim order not to implement the decision to appoint Bhatta to the post.

In the petition, the Government of Nepal Council of Ministers, Investment Board Nepal, recommendation committee for appointment of the CEO and Sushil Bhatt have been made the defendants.

The petitioner has claimed that Bhatt’s appointment to the board was illegal on the basis of both merit and intention.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers held last Monday evening had appointed Bhatta to the post.

Three names were recommended for the post of CEO before the Council of Ministers. The names of the National Reconstruction Authority’s CEO Sushil Gyawali and Dr. Saroj Koirala along with Bhatta were recommended by the committee formed for the selection of the CEO.
