As per the guideline, the infected person should be provided with a separate room with adequate lighting and airflow, should ask family members for essential items during the treatment period and drink adequate amounts of water, fluids and nutritious food.

Similarly, the utensils used by them should be safely cleaned and re-used only after they are well dried and there should arrangements for separate bathrooms, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said.

Mentioning that people in the care of the infected should wear mandatory medical masks, he said that the high-risk groups (chronic patients, senior citizens above 60 years, pregnant and maternity women) should be kept away.

He said that records should be kept after checking the fever three times a day and the concerned health workers should be informed.

He also urged that the infected should inform the health workers immediately if they have difficulty in breathing, chest pain, blue lips and face, loss of consciousness and other complex conditions.
