KATHMANDU: The Online Television Journalists Association has urged YouTube and online TV journalists to embrace the spirit of Journalists Code of Conducts-2073 BS.

The Association’s concern came after the way some online TV media persons took to approach owner of a Kapan- based child care home, Pushpa Adhikari, sparked widespread concern regarding their modus operandi.

The Association has urged them to be aware of media ethics. In a press statement, Association general secretary Raju Subedi said code of conducts for the said journalists would be coming.

Until it is done, they (YouTube and online TV journalists) are requested to comply with the Journalists Code of Conducts.

Besides, they have been urged for self-correction and to abide by the sense of social responsibility.

The new media law is not enough to deal with issues concerning new means of communications and an atmosphere is yet to be created for newcomers in media for sharing experiences, learning and cultivating knowledge and ideas, and for agency building, according to the Association which was officially established last year following the first national gathering of online TV operators held on February 7.

It seeks the unity among the people concerned for purification, strengthening and professionalism of the related field.
