KATHMANDU:  Pashupatinath temple has not opened for devotees on second Monday of the Nepali month of Shrawan today.

The overcrowded areas including temples and educational institutes have not yet opened since the government imposed lockdown to stem coronavirus spread.

Even though the lockdown was lifted, Pashupatinath Temple has been closed for devotees in line with the government’s policy not to open temples and educational institutes, said Dr Pradeep Dhakal, the member secretary of the Pashupati Development Trust.

Monday of the Nepali month Shrawan is considered auspicious day for Hindu devotees for religious activities.

However, educational institutes, religious sites and party palaces have not yet been opened due to fear of coronavirus spread.
