Drunk-driving check resumes after 4 months



KATHMANDU: The Metropolitan Traffic Police has resumed the drunk driving check popularly known as ‘Mapase’ from today.

According to SSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal, the Head of Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, traffic police is resuming the long postponed mapase test from Wednesday.

“Following all precautionary measures recommended by the Ministry of Health and other authorities, we are resuming the mapase test stopped owing to the spread of coronavirus pandemic and the measures the country adopted on March 20 from Wednesday,” SSP Dhakal said.

He added that they will use the machine and if needed take the person to the medical halls for checking.

According to him, the awareness classes will also be resumed from Wednesday.

The government has decided to lift the lockdown enforced since March 24 from July 22 onwards.
