NC won’t join govt under any circumstances: Sharma

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has made it clear that it will not join the government under any circumstances.

Commenting on the dispute within the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and the frequent meetings between NCP and NC leaders fueling rumors on NC joining the government, NC Spokesperson Bishwapraskash Sharma ruled out the possibility of the main opposition party joining the government.

“Regardless of any situation, NC will not be at Singha Durbar to lead ministries. Of course, it can reach there with its demands. Voters had mandated us to be in opposition for five years,” Sharma said.

He also urged the party cadres not to be apprehensive about NC joining the government.

On a separate note, Sharma said that the Prime Minister had not given any prior notice to President Sher Bahadur Deuba even though he had met him a day before the end of the Parliament session.

“Opposition party, Speaker, National Assembly Chairman should be informed on ending House session as per the rules and prevailing norms. The President is being treated as an individual and not as an institution,” he lamented.
