Two held with 22 kg hashish worth Rs 80 mln



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two people with 22.5 kilograms of hashish from Hariya Tole of Butwal Sub Metropolitan City.

Acting on a tip-off, Provincial Police Office of Pradesh-5 on Monday raided a house belonging to Dhan Bahadur Damai and seized a large amount of hashish.

The arrested are 29-year-old Megh Raj Giri of Madane of Gulmi and 35-year-old Ratibhan Damai of Sisne, Rukum, informed Rabindra Dhanuk, Chief of Provincial Police Office.

The seized hashish is priced at Rs 80 million in the grey market, according to Dhanuk.

Police said they are searching for the other people involved in the drug trafficking.

According to Dhanuk, the narcotic drug was being trafficked to India via Nepalgunj and Butwal. It was brought to Butwal from Rukum and Rolpa.

Police said they are investigating the case after taking the drug traffickers into custody.
