COVID-19 tally hits 15,784 with 293 new cases in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 293 new positive cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, Ministry of Health and Population said on Sunday.

Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that with the addition of the case, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 15,784.

The new cases were detected in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Nuwakot, Rautahat, Salyan, Sarlahi, Makwanpur, Rautahat, Banke, Bardiya, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Illam, Myagdi, Dhading, Baglung, Tanahun, Kaski, Lamjung, Gorkha, Nawalparasi, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Salyan, Dailekh, Surkhet, Rukum (West), Bajura, Dadeldhura, Achham, Doti, Kanchanpur and Syangja, Jhapa, Panchthar, Taplejung, Morang, Dhanusa, Siraha, Mahottari, Parsa, Argakhanchi, Baitadi, Kailali, and Kapilvastu districts.

Meanwhile, 132 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from different hospitals in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus.

With this, 6,547 have been discharged across the country so far.

In the last 24 hours, 4,710 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

At present, 9,203 active cases of COVID-19 in Nepal and staying in isolation while 31,573 are in quarantines across the country.

Nepal’s death toll stands at 34 with two deaths in the past 24 hours. The coronavirus infection has spread to all 77 districts of the country.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has asked people in quarantine to wear masks compulsorily.
