NC registers Proposal of Public Importance on Flood, Landslide and Inundation

KATHMANDU: Main opposition party in the parliament, Nepali Congress has registered a proposal of public importance on flood, landslide and inundation, the hovering rain-induced threats the country is likely to face soon.

The proposal of public importance on flood, landslide and inundation registered by NC lawmaker Dila Sangraula has drawn the attention of the lawmakers towards the hazards caused by the dams and roads Indian side constructed lopsidedly on the no-man’s-land area of Nepal-India border.

According to the proposal, such constructions made in 28 places in the no man’s land area have made the bordering areas of Nepal stretching from Jhapa to Kanchanpur vulnerable to flood and inundation.

The proposal has mentioned the constructions built lopsidedly on no man’s land as against the prevalent international laws and has also sought further information about it from the government.

The main opposition party has criticized the government for its indifference towards the preparation against the disasters looming closer due to the continuous rainfall of monsoon season.
