End discrimination in health sector: Professional groups to PM

KATHMANDU: Various professional groups under the health sector have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli seeking an end to the existing discrimination in the facilities provided by the state.

Nepal Medical Association, Government Doctors’ Association of Nepal, Nursing Association Nepal and Nepal Public Health Association on Thursday jointly handed over the memo stating that the state should not discriminate health workers in terms of facilities.

The professional groups in the memorandum have accused the government of discriminating officials of all levels including 11th and 12th under the health sector in terms of facilities, opportunities, and responsibilities.

In the memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, they have demanded that the secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population must be appointed from the health sector itself and all the officials including those of 11th and 12th level must be provided with equal opportunities, responsibilities and facilities.
