MELAMCHI: The Tatopani border point in Sindhupalchowk district has been open and running its day-to-day operation regularly lately.

The important Nepal-China border point was closed since January 30 last year to prevent the risks of COVID-19 spread came to operation since April 8 this year.

Many containers that were stranded in China side began to enter Nepal carrying essential supplies thereafter. According to Tatopani Customs Office, there was no disruption in the border point.

As monsoon has entered Nepal and become active now, all necessary equipment, tools and vehicles have been readied to clear off the road along the checkpoint in case landslides occur, informed Tatopani Customs Office Chief Lal Bahadur Khatri.

Although a cliff nearby Bungee Jumping Point is relatively difficult to pass by, all the vehicles were passing through it, said Khatri.

Places in Barabise to Liping along the road leading to Tatopani Check Point are prone to landslides.

The Customs Office has made all necessary preparations to make sure the checkpoint functions smoothly and there is no disruption in vehicular movement in the road leading up to Tatopani transit Point, according to Khatri.
