KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a circular to make it mandatory for people entering Kathmandu from outside to be under home quarantine for 14 days.

The Ministry has directed the Chief District Officers of all the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley to enforce the decision.

Earlier, today, the Ministry of Health and Population had suggested that those coming from outside the Kathmandu Valley should be under mandatory home quarantine for 14 days.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Tuesday, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Jageshwor Gautam also said that the Ministry has drawn the attention to landlords demanding the COVID-19 test report for tenants returning to Kathmandu Valley.

He said that the coronavirus should not be tested soon after arriving from outside Kathmandu Valley, adding that one should go for tests only if symptoms appear during the 14-day home quarantine.

“It is understood that some tenants have been barred by entering the rented room by landlords without COVID 19 PCR test. The Ministry of Health and Population has taken serious note of this,” said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

He has also appealed not to pressurize for coronavirus tests for those coming to Kathmandu from outside the Valley.

He said that everyone including business people and employers should be vigilant about coronavirus control and prevention.

He said that a distance of at least two meters should be maintained in all kinds of gatherings and a surgical mask or three-layer cloth mask should be used when going out of the house.

Dr. Gautam also said that the offices with fingerprint attendance should manage face reading machines.

Similarly, Dr. Gautam also urged not to make employees with cough and respiratory problems to work.
