Death toll in Palpa landslide reaches 3



PALPA: Three people have been killed in a landslide at Bandipokhara Sammobari in Tansen Municipality-11 of the district on Monday afternoon.

Four vehicles have been swept away by the landslide at Bandipokhara Sammobari under the Tansen-Ridi section, according to police.

The bodies of two people were found buried in the landslide and one was rescued and taken to the Mission Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, Deputy Superintendent of Police Madan Giri confirmed.

According to him, the identities of those killed have not been revealed. The dead bodies have been brought to Palpa Hospital.

Preparations were underway to open the road that had been blocked since Monday morning due to continuous rain.

According to eyewitnesses, the landslide swept away the vehicles while an excavator was clearing the mudslide.

A truck, a water tanker, a jeep and a car have been buried in the landslide.
