KATHMANDU: A total of 426 new cases have been confirmed in Nepal in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Population stated on Friday.
With this, total cases in Nepal have reached 8,274.
Among the newly-infected, 338 are males and 88 females, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon.
According to Dr. Gautam, a woman from Jhapa, a woman and a man from Morang were confirmed to be infected in tests carried out at Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar and tests conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur, confirmed the infection in one woman and 10 men from Sarlahi, one woman and three men from Saptari.
Similarly, a woman and six men from Achham, two women and 16 men from Baglung, seven women and 56 men from Baitadi, one woman and two men from Bajhang, eight men from Bajura, nine men from Dadeldhura and nine men and one woman from Dhading were tested positive at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.
Moreover, 3 women and 12 men from Doti, one woman and 10 men from Gorkha, 13 women and 33 men from Kailali, one woman and one man from Kaski, two women and one man from Kathmandu, three women from Makwanpur, one woman from Morang, one woman from Morang, one man from Myagdi, two men from Nawalparasi East, 10 women and 11 men from Sindhupalchowk, 3 women and 16 men from Tanahun, three women and two men from Parbat, two women from Udayapur, one woman from Sindhuli and one woman from Chitwan were confirmed infected in the tests at the laboratory.
According to Dr. Gautam, a test conducted in Hetauda confirmed the infection in one woman and five men in Makwanpur.
Similarly, a woman and four men from Baitadi and a man from Syangja have been diagnosed with the infection at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj.
Likewise, two women and four men from Kaski, two women from Nawalparasi East, one man from Syangja and two women and six men from Baglung have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in a test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Gandaki.
Tests conducted at the laboratory of the Provincial Tuberculosis Center, Pokhara, confirmed the infection in six men from Baglung and one man from Syangja.
Similarly, two women and four men from Arghakhanchi, 16 women and 78 men from Gulmi, four men from Kapilvastu, one man from Nawalparasi West and two women from Rupandehi have been confirmed to be infected with coronavirus in tests at Public Health Laboratory at Rupandehi.
Similarly, a man from Achham, two women and a man from Kailali, a woman from Kanchanpur and 19 men from Seti have been confirmed to be infected in tests carried out at Seti Provincial Hospital.
Meanwhile, 216 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from different hospitals in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus. With this 1,402 have been discharged across the country so far.
In the last 24 hours, 6,231 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.
According to him, 161,749 samples were tested through the PCR and 247,874 through the RDT so far.
At present, 6,850 people are in isolation and 109,461 are in quarantines across the country.
Nepal’s death toll stands at 22.
