Dialogue possible amidst pandemic if there is will power: Foreign Minister Gyawali

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali has said dialogue could be initiated amidst lockdown if there is will power and reiterated Nepal’s willingness to resolve all problems with India through the medium of dialogue.

In response to lawmakers’ queries regarding the ministry of foreign affairs under the ‘Appropriation Bill-2077 BS’ at today’s meeting of the National Assembly, Nepal assumes to settle all unsettled problems through dialogue and expresses its confidence that India would internalize the truth that pandemic would not be an impediment for the same if there is will power.

He further said that the government was moving ahead with determination to establish Nepali ownership to the territory included in a new political and administrative map.

Diplomatic efforts would be taken ahead for this, he said. “We are in favour of truth and are also committed to realizing this historical responsibility”, the minister said, adding, “The historical treaties and agreements, testimonials and evidences substantiate that Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura as Nepal’s territory.

Nepal government has the pronounced policy to maintain cordial relations with India and China, he said, adding Nepal would not budge from its policy that the balanced relations should be maintained with both neighbours by getting along their security sensitivities.

Making clarification that the ministry has higher amount of recurrent expenditure and capital expense low due to the nature of the ministry-executed works, he said the ministry is in its plan for promoting public diplomacy.
