NA lawmakers protest alleged rape of woman in quarantine

KATHMANDU: National Assembly (NA) members on Tuesday protested the alleged rape of a woman in a quarantine facility at Martyrs Memorial Secondary School in Lamki Chuha of Kailali.

They demanded stern action against the guilty.

Speaking in a zero hour of the NA today, Nepal Communist Party lawmaker Dil Kumari Rawal Thapa condemned the rape on a woman in the quarantine facility.

She sought an investigation against the case and demanded stern action against those found guilty in the crime.

She also demanded a separate quarantine facility for women with the availability of women health workers and security force.

Ruling party lawmaker Mahesh Kumar Mahara said that perpetrators deserved maximum punishment.

Likewise NCP lawmaker Maya Prasad Sharma drew the government’s attention towards bringing the body of Bir Bahadur Kami from Jajarkot who had died two weeks ago in Malaysia.

Prakash Pantha of Nepali Congress said that quarantine facilities across the country were poorly managed.
