648 women committed suicide during lockdown: Police



KATHMANDU: A total of 648 women committed suicide during the lockdown imposed by the government to stem coronavirus in Nepal.

According to Umesh Raj Joshi, the Spokesperson for the Nepal Police, as many as 648 women committed suicide as of 83rd day of the lockdown.

Pradesh 2 has reported the highest number of suicidal incidents.

According to police records, Pradesh 1 has reported 110 deaths, Pradesh 2 has 121 and Bagmati Province has 88 deaths.

Similarly, Gandaki Pradesh has 76 deaths, Pradesh 5 has 117 and Karnali Pradesh has 33 and Sudurpashchim has 72 suicidal deaths.

The Nepal govnerment on March 24 imposed lockdown to stem coronavirus pandemic.
