Phase-wise relaxation of lockdown begins today



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to ease the ongoing lockdown in a bid to resume the country’s economic activities from today.

A meeting of the cabinet held on Wednesday evening decided to make some changes in the lockdown modality.

Here are the lists of the sectors that will open from today:

Health services, including hospitals, health-posts, pharmaceuticals, ambulances.

Agricultural and livestock, services related to fertilizers, agricultural tools and cold storage

Food items, fruits and vegetables, beverages, dairy products, fish and meat, drinking water

Sale of petroleum products

Waste management

Fire brigade, electricity, postal services, information and communication

Banks, financial institutions, cooperatives, insurance services

Construction industries

Manufacturing industries

Development projects

Construction works

Restaurants, take away food services

Stationery shops

Hotels designated as quarantine facilities

Sale, maintenance of electric items

Workshops, repairing, machinery items and vehicles

Transportation services

Emergency services

Government and private offices with less than 50% attendance of the staffers

Meanwhile, the following services will continue to be closed until further notice:

Educational institutions such as colleges, tuition centers, or training centers

Departmental stores, shopping malls

Cinema halls, dance bars, party palaces, recreation centers

International and domestic flights

Fairs, festivals, exhibition, conferences or assemblies

Meetings, seminars, training with over 25 people

Social gathering

Gym halls, health clubs, swimming pools, massage centers, saloon and beauty parlors

Cross border movement

Sporting activities stadiums and open grounds

Vehicles except for fire brigade, ambulance, cargo vehicles, emergencies
