Probe committee formed to investigate chartered flights air fare



KATHMANDU: The government has formed a 4-member probe committee to probe into the allegations of charging higher fares in the name of chartered flights.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has formed the committee led by Joint Secretary Suresh Acharya to investigate allegations that travel agencies sold tickets on unnaturally high fees from passengers on chartered flights of Nepali and foreign nationals allowed to fly to Hong Kong and Japan.

Others members in the committee includes Surendra Thapa, Director of the Department of Tourism, Chief Member of the Civil Aviation Division of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and Rajan Nepal, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism.

The Ministry has given a 7-day time to submit the report of the investigation.

The ministry has also drawn serious attention to the complaints of the passengers that the travel agency had taken high fares while chartering Nepal Airlines flights to Hong Kong and Japan.
