Number of COVID-19 cases reaches 613 in Province-2

JANAKPUR: The number of COVID-19 infected cases has reached 613 in State-2 with the identification of 64 new cases so far.

Twenty-eight new cases were found in Rautahat district, 21 new cases in Dhanusha District, 10 new cases in Sarlahi district and five new cases in Parsa district of the Province-2 on, the Province-2 government’s Ministry of Social Development has stated.

Ministry’s secretary Dr Ram Prasad Ghimire said most of the people who tested positive to the virus of late had been put into quarantine after having come from various places of India including Gujarat.

He said the number of quarantines has also been expanded continuously in the Province-2 with the growing number of people returning home from India.

Accordingly, 10 more quarantine centers were set up on Sunday taking the total number of such facilities to 381. There are 27 thousand 90 beds in these quarantine facilities.

Currently, 18 thousand 830 people are kept in quarantine, 5545 people are kept in home quarantine and 774 people are kept in isolation wards in the Province.

Meanwhile, the Province-2 government has so far provided Rs 82 million 325 thousand to the various hospitals for the prevention, control and treatment of the coronavirus pandemic.

Lately the State government released Rs 51 million 375 thousand to these hospitals, the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has stated.
