NC’s crucial meet to decide on constitution amendment underway

KATHMANDU: A crucial meeting of Central Working Committee of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) is underway at the party’s headquarters in Sanepa to decide on the constitution amendment proposal.

General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka, during the meeting, has floated a proposal to direct the parliamentary party to vote in favor of the updated map of Nepal issued by the government.

Over two dozen central members have already spoken in favor of the proposal during the meeting.

The meeting is expected to instruct the parliamentary party to vote in favor of the proposal to amend the updated map including Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh, Kalapani and Schedule 3 related to Article 9, Clause 2 of the Constitution.

Earlier, an office-bearer meeting of the party had expressed the party’s solidarity with the government’s stand on the Lipu Lekh, Limpiyadhura, Kalapani dispute and the issuance of the revised map of Nepal.
