KATHMANDU: The weather is currently generally cloudy across the country. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, the monsoon trough is positioned slightly north of its average location.
Light to moderate rainfall is occurring in some parts of Koshi Province and a few places in Bagmati and Lumbini provinces.
The Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country this afternoon. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in many parts of the mountainous and hilly regions.
Moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder and lightning is also expected in many parts of the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in some parts of the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
Heavy rainfall is possible in one or two places in the hilly regions of the country and the Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Division forecasts generally cloudy conditions across the country tonight. Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is likely in many places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and in some places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is also likely in some parts of the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places in the Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.
The Division has forecast heavy rainfall in a few places across the mountainous, hilly and Terai areas of Koshi Province, the mountainous and hilly areas of Bagmati Province, and one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Very heavy rainfall is also possible in one or two places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
The Division has urged people to take necessary precautions as heavy rainfall could trigger disasters such as flash floods, floods, landslides and soil erosion. It has also warned that rainfall could affect daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road transport and air services in the affected areas. All concerned have been advised to remain updated with the latest information issued by the Division.
