KATHMANDU: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has accused the government of failing to understand the sensitivity of recent incidents in different parts of the country and respond to them appropriately.
Speaking at a programme organised by the UML Kathmandu Metropolitan Committee in Kathmandu on Friday, Pokharel said the current government and the home administration had failed to address recent developments in a timely and effective manner.
He also criticised the government for not seeking cooperation from political parties despite the need to do so. Pokharel further alleged that the government had revoked appointments made by the previous administration through an ordinance and replaced them with its own supporters and comparatively less qualified individuals.
Pokharel said the UML should learn from past shortcomings and work towards becoming the country’s strongest and most preferred political party.
He also stressed the need to move beyond the formal aspects of the party’s guiding principle of People’s Multiparty Democracy and focus on its substantive implementation to advance towards socialism.
