KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Parsa, has reimposed a curfew in Birgunj following growing protests linked to the Sunsari incident.
The curfew came into effect at 5:00 pm on Friday and will remain in force until 6:00 am on Saturday.
According to the administration, the order covers the area within Birgunj Metropolitan City bounded by Pratima Chowk and Bus Park Bypass Road in the east, Tilave Bridge in the west, Gandak Chowk in the north and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
During the curfew period, gatherings of more than five people, public meetings, rallies and demonstrations have been prohibited within the designated area.
The administration had also imposed a nighttime curfew on Thursday. Authorities have been enforcing the restrictions since Thursday as protests intensified in Birgunj over the Sunsari incident.
