Fire in Nepalgunj plywood industry causes Rs 50 million loss

BANKE: A fire at Everest Plywood Door Industry in Nayabasti, Phultekra of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City–21 has caused an estimated loss of around Rs 50 million.

The fire, which broke out on Friday afternoon, was brought under control only on Saturday. Industry operator Prakash Rana said that all machinery, raw materials, and finished doors were destroyed in the blaze, leaving the factory completely gutted.

Preliminary assessment suggests that the fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. According to the District Police Office, Banke, Deputy Superintendent of Police and spokesperson Pratibha Singh Rathore said the fire started on Friday afternoon and was fully contained on Saturday.

She said the fire was controlled with the help of fire engines from various local levels of Banke and Bardiya, along with the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and local residents. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire and assessing the total damage.
