UML likely to appoint Ram Bahadur Thapa as parliamentary party leader

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is preparing to appoint Ram Bahadur Thapa as the parliamentary party leader.

The matter was discussed during a secretariat meeting held on Tuesday, chaired by Badal himself.

The meeting decided to entrust Vice Chair Badal and Secretary Padma Aryal with the responsibility of selecting the parliamentary party leader and determining the appointment of the chief whip. Sources suggest that Thapa is expected to take the parliamentary party leader position, while Padma Aryal is likely to become the chief whip.

Meanwhile, some youth members have voiced support for Suhang Nembang, elected from Ilam-1, to take on leadership roles as parliamentary party leader and chief whip. However, it is widely believed that Nembang will not be appointed parliamentary party leader, though party leaders seem open to assigning him as chief whip or a regular whip.
