Netanyahu avoids setting timeline for war’s end as Trump escalates threats against Iran

WASHINGTON DC: US President Donald Trump has threatened to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants, oil facilities, and potentially its water desalination plants if a deal is not reached “shortly.” The White House press secretary clarified the context of his comments amid escalating tensions.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the war as “definitely beyond the halfway point” but emphasized he does not want to commit to a timetable for its conclusion.

Trump stated that while there are “serious” discussions with Iran, the US is prepared to strike sites it has “purposefully not yet ‘touched'” should a ceasefire fail to materialize.

He specifically reiterated threats against Kharg Island, a major fuel hub, prompting speculation over whether the threats are a strategic bluff, according to correspondent Frank Gardner.

Earlier, a spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry commented on US proposals aimed at ending the conflict, as reported by state media.

Meanwhile, Oil prices surged to $115 per barrel, while petrol prices in the UK experienced another increase.
