Nepal Red Cross Society should free itself of politics, stress on neutrality: Home Minister



KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has urged the Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) to carry out its works while remaining aloof from politics.

In discussion related to the NRCS at the Ministry today, he instructed the NRCS to work towards resolving the long-standing institutional issues at the central level in accordance with the law and procedures.

Home Minister Aryal urged the NRCS Ad-hoc Committee to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to it, hold elections on time, amend the institution’s regulations according to federalism, and ensure impartial performance while keeping the organization free from politics.

He also urged the NRCS to work in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens as a partner of the government without being deviated from the sacred purpose of the organisation.

The discussion was attended by Home Secretary Raj Kumar Shrestha, Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Radhika Aryal, the Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, and senior officials from both ministries.

Similarly, on behalf of the Nepal Red Cross Society, representatives including Binod Kumar Sharma, Chairperson of the Ad-hoc Committee, and General Secretary Min Bahadur Malla had attended the discussions.
