Govt suspends N-PABSAN activities until further notice

KATHMANDU: The government has suspended the activities of the National Private and Boarding Schools’ Association Nepal (N-PABSAN) until further notice, citing its repeated failure to comply with government directives.

In a public notice issued on Friday, the Ministry of Home Affairs said the decision was taken under Clause 2 of the National Directive Act, 2018 BS. The ministry stated that the association’s office-bearers had been found acting contrary to its statute and stated objectives.

The ministry had held discussions with concerned stakeholders on October 9 and instructed the association to operate in accordance with the Act and directives issued by the ministry on November 28, 2025.

However, as the association failed to comply with the instructions, the ministry decided to suspend its activities, according to the notice.

Following the government’s decision, any activities conducted under the name of N-PABSAN by any group or faction will be considered illegal and may invite action under prevailing laws.

The association has been facing internal disputes, with two parallel committees led by Subas Neupane and Gita Rana Chhetri operating separately.
