BAGLUNG: Nisikhola and Tamankhola have been among the areas worst affected by incessant rainfall, with floods and landslides washing away 61 houses and sheds and partially damaging 51 houses, according to the District Administration Office.
Of the structures washed away, 51 were houses and 10 were sheds. Twelve people have died and one person remains missing following the floods and landslides.
The erosion caused by the Daramkhola River has also washed away the ward office of Galkot Municipality-9. Three suspension bridges have been destroyed, while two police offices have sustained partial damage.
According to Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Acharya, two hydropower projects have suffered partial damage, while a school, a resort, and an agricultural farm have also been damaged. The disasters have affected 256 livestock and killed 215 chickens.
In Nisikhola Rural Municipality-4, 20 mud-built houses and two concrete houses have been completely destroyed, while 11 houses are at risk. Four sheds have been completely destroyed and another has sustained partial damage.
The administration said significant damage has been reported in various parts of Nisikhola, Tamankhola, Badigad, and Kathekhola rural municipalities, as well as Dhorpatan, Galkot, and Baglung municipalities.
In Tamankhola Rural Municipality-3, two houses were completely destroyed by landslides. In Badigad Rural Municipality-9, 16 houses were completely destroyed and 14 were partially damaged in Khallechaur. In Ward No. 8, three houses were partially damaged and two sheds were damaged.
Similarly, three houses in Dhorpatan Municipality-7 and -12 were completely destroyed, while another house was partially damaged. In Tamankhola-4, eight houses were completely destroyed, while three houses in Nisikhola-1 were partially damaged, according to CDO Acharya.
In Galkot Municipality-1, Fairsot, floods completely damaged two concrete houses, three mud-built houses, two hotels and resorts, and a shed. Two houses in Baglung Municipality-3 and -9 were partially damaged.
One house and four sheds were damaged in different areas of Kathekhola Rural Municipality, including wards 1, 2, 6, and 7.
Three people from Tarakhola, five from Nisikhola, and four from Tamankhola lost their lives in the landslides. A woman remains missing in Tamankhola, according to District Police Chief Phanindra Prasai.
