National Security Council meeting called by PM Balen Shah



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the National Security Council has been called by Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 am and will discuss the overall peace and security situation of the country, including the recent incident in Sunsari.

According to the Constitution of Nepal, the National Security Council consists of the Prime Minister as chair, along with the Defence Minister, Home Minister, Foreign Minister, Finance Minister, Chief Secretary and Chief of the Nepal Army.

The Defence Secretary serves as the member secretary of the council.

The council is responsible for making recommendations to the government regarding the mobilization and control of the Nepal Army, preparing plans for strengthening and modernizing the army, formulating policies on security equipment and standards, and advising the government on matters related to national interest, security and defence.
