KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will administer the oath of office to its newly elected central committee members and office bearers on Wednesday following the party’s first general convention.
According to RSP leader Manish Jha, the oath-taking ceremony for the party’s 99 newly elected central committee members will take place at 11:00 am at the party’s central office.
Assistant General Secretary Nisha Dangi said six newly elected office bearers will also be sworn in immediately after the central committee members.
“The oath-taking of the six elected office bearers will follow the swearing-in of the central committee members,” Dangi told Khabarhub. “There is a possibility that the central committee will hold its first meeting afterward, although a final decision on that has yet to be made.”
At the party’s first general convention, Rabi Lamichhane was unanimously elected as party chair.
Similarly, Balen Shah was unanimously elected senior vice-chair, while Swarnim Wagle was unanimously elected vice-chair.
Under the party’s statute, the RSP has a 19-member office-bearer structure. Apart from the six elected office bearers, the remaining positions will be filled through nominations by the party chair.
The statute also provides for the formation of a 33-member secretariat, with the chair authorized to nominate members other than the elected office bearers.
The RSP’s first general convention was held in Chitwan over a week beginning on June 21.
