KATHMANDU: At least 22 people were injured after a passenger bus overturned on the Postal Highway in Kapilvastu on Monday.
The accident occurred at Gaidahawa in Ward No. 2 of Maharajgunj Municipality when a Shivapuri Luxury Coach bus, bearing registration number Sudurpashchim Province 01-001 Kha 3721, lost control, crashed into a road divider, and overturned.
The bus was traveling from Dhangadhi to Kathmandu with 46 people on board, including the driver. Among the injured is the driver, 42-year-old Hari Singh Mahara of Dhangadhi, Kailali, along with passengers from various districts of Sudurpashchim Province and Chitwan.
Police said the injured sustained head, arm, leg, chest, and waist injuries. They received initial treatment at the District Hospital in Taulihawa before being referred to Universal Medical College in Bhairahawa for further treatment.
The remaining 24 passengers, who escaped unhurt, were sent to their destinations in another vehicle.
The overturned bus was removed from the road using a crane, and traffic on both sides of the highway has resumed.
