Heavy rain likely in several provinces today



KATHMANDU: Meteorologists have forecast widespread rainfall across Nepal on Tuesday, warning of moderate to heavy showers in hilly and Terai regions of multiple provinces during both the afternoon and night.

Meteorologist Hari Prasad Dahal said light to moderate rain is currently occurring in some areas of the Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces this morning, while the sky in Karnali Province remains mostly overcast.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in many hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali Province.

Likewise, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely in many Terai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim, and in some parts of the Terai in Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Heavy rainfall is also likely at one or two places in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in both the hills and Tarai of Sudurpaschim Province.

At night, moderate to heavy rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning is expected in some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and in a few hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in many hilly and Terai areas across the country.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at a few places in the hills and Terai of Koshi Province, and at one or two places in Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. Heavy rainfall is also possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Madhesh, Bagmati and Karnali provinces.

The Division has also warned of thunderstorms in several Tarai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of moderate rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley today.
