Dengue infection confirmed in Humla for the first time

HUMLA: Dengue infection has been confirmed for the first time in Humla, raising concerns among health authorities.

The infection was detected in a patient undergoing treatment at the district hospital following a swab test.

According to Chief Medical Officer Umakanta Tiwari, the infected patient has been identified as 45-year-old Moti Sunar of Simkot Rural Municipality-2.

Sunar had visited the hospital three days ago after experiencing health complications and is currently receiving treatment.

Doctors said the patient will remain under observation for a few more days following the confirmation of the infection.

Health officials noted that the patient has not recently traveled outside the district, suggesting a possible local transmission within Humla.

Experts attribute the infection to changing weather patterns, rising temperatures, and an increase in mosquito populations. Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and adopt preventive measures.
