President Paudel to consult constitutional experts on ordinances

KATHMANDU: Ram Chandra Paudel is set to hold consultations with constitutional experts today regarding ordinances recommended by the government after suspending Parliament.

According to the President’s Office, Paudel has invited constitutional experts for discussions at Shital Niwas at 4 pm.

The government has recommended six ordinances for approval on April 27 and 28. These include amendments to the Constitutional Council Act, and the Cooperative Act, along with ordinances related to health science institutions, amendments to various Nepal laws, removal of public officials, and university governance.

The move has drawn criticism after the government presented the ordinances for approval shortly after postponing a session of the Federal Parliament.

Opposition parties have also objected to the decision, raising concerns over the use of ordinances in place of parliamentary process.
