KATHMANDU : The government has decided to form a task force to prepare a discussion paper on amending the Constitution of Nepal.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar on Monday took the decision, according to government spokesperson and Minister for Education Sasmit Pokharel.

The task force will be led by the political advisor to Prime Minister Balen Shah, Asim Shah and will include representatives from political parties represented in the Federal Parliament of Nepal.

The Cabinet meeting also decided to recommend to President Ram Chandra Paudel to summon the parliamentary session on April 2 at 2 pm at Singha Durbar.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Minister Pokharel said the government is also working to end the practice of institutions attracting students to pre-preparatory courses for Grade 11 before the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) are published.

However, he said institutions operating at the university level or above may conduct preparatory classes in accordance with existing laws.
