Second cabinet meeting under PM Balendra Shah underway

KATHMANDU: The cabinet meeting at Singha Durbar began at 4:15 pm, according to the Secretariat of Prime Minister Balendra Shah.

The meeting is expected to take key decisions regarding political appointments made during the previous government. Observers also speculate that the government, which has intensified its anti-corruption campaign, may announce concrete steps in this regard.

This is the second cabinet meeting since the new government was formed on Friday. The first meeting, held on the same day, approved the implementation of the recommendations of the commission investigating the September 8 and 9, 2025, Gen-Z protests. Following that decision, former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak were arrested for investigation.

The previous meeting had also approved a 100-point reform agenda, and today’s session is expected to make further significant decisions.
