PM Shah holds talks with Koshi lawmakers as Harka Sampang-led party boycotts meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balen Shah is holding discussions with lawmakers elected from Koshi Province at Singha Durbar on Monday.

Lawmakers from major parties including Rastriya Swatantra Party, Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML are participating in the meeting.

Among those present are UML lawmakers Suhang Nembang and Rajendra Kumar Rai.

However, lawmakers from the Shram Sanskriti Party led by Harka Sampang have boycotted the meeting.

Sampang had earlier announced that his party would not take part in any informal, closed-door discussions, demanding that the House of Representatives be convened instead.

“The Prime Minister must call the first meeting of Parliament. We will not attend room-based meetings held without convening the House,” Sampang said.

He added that Parliament should meet at least once a week and stressed that the government must remain accountable and answer public concerns.
