Nepali Congress office bearers, central members to take oath today

KATHMANDU: The office bearers and members of the Central Working Committee elected at the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress are scheduled to take their oaths of office today (Thursday).

Party President Gagan Thapa had already taken the oath and assumed office on October 17, during the Dashain festival.

According to Raju Katuwal, member-secretary of the Election Committee, the oath-taking ceremony for the party’s central members and office bearers will be held at 2 pm on Thursday at the party’s central office in Sanepa.

The Election Committee issued a notice last Monday requesting all office bearers and central members elected at the 15th General Convention to attend the ceremony.

A total of 231 members were elected to the Central Working Committee during the general convention. Although the party statute provides for a 297-member committee, the president is authorised to nominate the remaining 66 members.

A Central Committee meeting is also scheduled for Thursday to discuss the nomination of the remaining members.
