RASUWA: A seven-year-old girl buried under mud in Timure, Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2, Rasuwa, was rescued alive on Saturday, four days after the Bhotekoshi River flood.
A team deployed from Armed Police Force Nepal’s Number 20 Battalion in Dhunche rescued Shirganga Ichhai Magar, who was found covered in mud.
The girl was found in critical condition and was airlifted to Rasuwa District Hospital in Dhunche, according to police involved in the rescue operation.
Senior surgeon Dr Sunil Kumar Das at Dhunche Hospital said the girl’s condition appeared serious and she was referred to Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, for further treatment.
Her mother, Gita Ichhai Magar, who is originally from Arghakhanchi and works at the Global IME Bank’s Timure branch, and her father, Lok Bahadur Uchai, were also rescued from the same area.
Armed Police Inspector Som Gurung said the girl’s parents had earlier been airlifted to Kathmandu by a Nepali Army helicopter for further treatment.
