Death toll from Rasuwa floods rises to 626



KATHMANDU: The death toll from the floods in Rasuwa and other affected areas has reached 626, according to the latest figures released by Nepal Police on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the bodies of victims have been recovered from several flood-affected districts, with Chitwan recording the highest number of fatalities.

A total of 233 bodies have been recovered in Chitwan, followed by 158 in Nawalparasi East, 54 in Gorkha, 49 in Dhading, 47 in Nawalparasi West, 41 in Nuwakot, 31 in Tanahun and 13 in Rasuwa.

Meanwhile, 2,301 people have been rescued from flood- and disaster-affected areas as of Saturday.

According to police, 676 people were rescued from Rasuwa, 1,622 from Nuwakot and three from Dhading.

The number of injured people who have received treatment or been discharged from hospitals across Kathmandu Valley has reached 140, police said.
