KATHMANDU: The government has sought technical and expert assistance from friendly nations to strengthen the search and rescue efforts for people trapped inside a tunnel.
Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal said the government has also requested support for advanced technologies needed to locate and identify those trapped in the tunnel.
The government has particularly sought international assistance for rapid DNA analysis, identification of victims and long-term management of bodies.
Speaking at a press briefing organised at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday, Minister Khanal said technical assistance from friendly nations would be crucial in disaster management.
According to him, the government has begun mobilising international support to address not only the immediate challenge of locating and rescuing survivors but also the identification of victims and management of bodies following the incident.
